Pick 4 Strategy
The Pick 4 is probably our favorite bet in all of horse racing. For a relatively small investment, you have a real shot of a nice payout. Since our standout selections win with such high regularity, the Pick 4 becomes a very interesting option.
We are going to give you two similar strategies on playing this bet. What strategy you should focus on will depend on how many standout Free Picks are available that day.
Strategy #1
This strategy works when we have two standout Free Picks in the four races. You will have two singles on your ticket. This will allow you to select more horses in each of the other two legs while still keeping the price of your ticket very reasonable. We recommend 5 or 6 horses each. Your ticket would look like this(1x1x5x6)($30). You could add additional horses in the last two legs of this example but do not spend more than $50 at a time. We will discuss Money Management in more detail in another article.
Under this example, you should expect to be cashing roughly 25% of your tickets. This is due to the high success rate we have with our standout Free Picks. Your average payout will be around $350 over the long run. Not a bad return on investment.
Strategy #2
The second strategy is a close cousin to the first. You would use this when there is one standout Free Pick in the Pick 4 sequence. Just like before, we recommend 5 or 6 horses each in two of the legs. The only real difference here is that you would need to use your own handicapping skills to find a single in one of the other three legs. The same rules would apply here as in the previous strategy. If this is not an option, we recommend just playing the Pick 3 or maybe a Trifecta or even the Superfecta. Take some time to read our articles on how to play those bets.
